English for All: K is for Kindness

Kindness.

Who comes to mind?

What random acts of kindness have you experienced?

These are questions my English for All Students have been talking and writing about as we make our way through the alphabet.

Art, breakfast, California, dreams, emotions, friends, God, holidays, internet, and jobs.

Kindness has been at the heart of what we’ve been doing: building bridges between cultures and countries.

Most of my students are from Brazil, but the group is open to anyone who wants to learn English.

Or anyone who wants to help them learn English—with all its peculiarities, dialects, and nuances.

Students have learned from engaging guest speakers such as Chris Vallancourt (A Voice to Spend Time With), Zanny Merullo (polyglot and freelance travel journalist), David Gaskin (songwriter and musician).

And from kind souls they’ve never met:

Matt KurtzKindness ripples on

Frank CaprioCaught being kind

Fred RogersThe king of kindness

We've moved on to the letter L, though kindness remains at our core.

Why not join us some Thursday?
